    Summary

    The incumbent guides research programs, determines customer expectations, and advises leaders in the agricultural industries and state and federal action/regulatory agencies on technical and practical matters related to the development of sunflower crop germplasm, biology/management of sunflower pests and diseases, biology/management of weed species, and quality of selected oilseed crops.

    Responsibilities

    • Directs all aspects of the Research Unit, including the research program, personnel, unit facilities, technology transfer, and fund accountability.
    • Directs all aspects of the distribution of approximately $4.4 million in federal base funds plus additional agency soft funds, grant funds and other resources for the research program.
    • Guides research programs, determines customer expectations, and advises leaders in the agricultural industries and state and federal action/regulatory agencies on technical and practical matters.
    • Guides research related to the development of sunflower crop germplasm, biology/management of sunflower pests and diseases, biology/management of weed species, and quality of selected oilseed crops.
    • Conducts and leads personal research on germplasm development, crop management, or quality improvement of selected oilseed crops.
