Summary

OIG is responsible for preventing and detecting fraud, waste, abuse, and violations of law, and for promoting economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of USAID programs. OIG provides oversight of the U. S. African Development Foundation (USADF), the Inter-American Foundation (IAF), and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

This position will be located in the OIG Immediate Office, and will be focused on Immediate Office and Internal, Organization-Wide Communications.

Duties

Help

As a Strategic Internal Communications Specialist, you will:

  • Cultivate collaborative relationships of mutual support with writers, editors, public and external affairs staff, and subject-matter-experts across all OIG units and functions.
  • Research, plan, implement, and evaluate OIG internal strategic communications in coordination with communication partners across the OIG and in alignment with external communications.
  • Coordinate with appropriate senior leaders and subject-matter-experts to obtain, review, and when necessary, improve the effectiveness of information to be communicated to the Inspector and Deputy Inspector General or for the OIG-wide distribution.
  • Research, draft, and revise speeches, briefings, talking points and messages for senior OIG leaders.
  • Review, prepare, and coordinate a wide variety of written materials, including newsletters, correspondence, internal SharePoint web-content, blogs, presentations, and reports, as well as materials related to programs and policies of the OIG to ensure documents are accurate, comprehensive, clear, concise and consistent and reflect OIG policies, standards and guidance.
  • Compose workforce communications on behalf of senior OIG leadership for the purpose of keeping OIG staff informed and educated about OIG initiatives and upcoming events.
  • Write and edit official correspondence on behalf of OIG senior leadership in response to internal operations or in coordination with public and external affairs colleagues.
  • Coordinate and manage logistics for OIG internal events and forums, such as town halls, all-hands, conferences, leadership panel discussions, guest speakers, presentations, award ceremonies, and special events. Works closely with the OIG Executive Assistant and Office of Management on internal event planning.
  • Engage with OIG employee groups and communities of practice to further advance effective, consistent, transparent internal knowledge and information sharing and to close internal communication gaps.
  • Partner with colleagues focused on data initiatives, data analytics, and internal surveys to support innovative and creative ways for effectively presenting data and sharing knowledge across the OIG.
  • Take personal initiative to improve individual and organizational performance and promote the OIG values and goals, while exemplifying high standards of professional and ethical behavior and integrity.
  • Adjust plans, goals, actions, and/or priorities to deal with changing situations and overcome obstacles.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Time in Grade Requirement: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service.

GS-14: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in the Federal service or equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) reviewing, preparing and coordinating different communications methodologies such as oral briefings, presentations, written reports, blogs and web content, correspondence, etc. (2) composing workforce communications on behalf of senior leadership for the purpose staff informed and educated about agency initiatives and programs, and (3) writing and editing official correspondence on behalf of agency senior leadership in response to internal operations or in coordination with public and external affairs colleagues.
