Duties

Help
  • The incumbent supervises professional, technical, clerical and administrative positions to carry out mission of the district.
  • Plans workload and assignments for subordinates to maintain program of conservation, protection and management of the public land natural, and cultural resources.
  • Ensures budget submissions and adjustments are within allocations.
  • Works with Field Manager preparing conformance of land use plans, interdisciplinary and ecosystem activity plans.
  • Collaborates with local interest groups, individuals, users and general public, state and local government to foster public awareness of resource issues and ongoing projects.
  • Participates as a member of the field management team acting as in Field Manager's absence.

Specialized Experience Requirements: In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-11) of the position to be filled. Examples: Overseeing the work of a variety of professional, technical and administrative staff in a natural resource environment as a supervisor, work lead, or technical expert; programming and budgeting duties to ensure accomplishments are within budget allocations; providing input to the preparation, implementation, and conformance of land use plans, interdisciplinary activity plans and ecosystem plans; promoting internal and external communication and coordination with local interest groups, individuals, the general public, State and local governments; or participating on, or leading, interdisciplinary teams (ID) working on a variety of natural resource projects.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.

Physical Demands: Work is primarily in an office setting. There is frequent travel to field sites via four wheel drive vehicles, fixed wing aircraft, helicopter, and boats. There is a potential for adverse climatic conditions. Field work involves walking, bending and climbing on steep and rough terrain.

Work Environment: Most work is in an office setting. Field sites involve exposure to adverse weather, i.e., rain, snow, cold and/or heat. Some outdoor work requires special safety precautions.

However, the Federal Travel Regulation 18-05 issued by General Services Administration has authorized agencies to use the Withholding Tax Allowance and Relocation Income Tax Allowance to pay for "substantially all" of the increased tax liability resulting from the "2018 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" for certain eligible individuals.
