Duties

Help

The Outreach and Marketing Specialist will actively engage in the following duties:

  • Building and maintaining a local network of collaborative partnerships: economic development practitioners in Federal, state, regional and local government, chambers of commerce, business and trade associations, financial institutions, educational institutions, and civic/community organizations.
  • Representing the Small Business Administration (SBA) at a variety of public functions through outreach/presentations/trainings to educate the small business, lender and contracting community about SBA programs and services, and other small business-relevant topics.
  • Participating in or leading projects to accomplish outreach events; collaborate with team members and other resources to ensure projects are successful.
  • Conduct advising and training on SBA programs.
  • Field technical representative responsible for compliance oversight of SBA district office customers.
  • Developing partnerships through advising and counseling lenders.
  • Assisting with lender compliance and providing technical oversight.
  • Providing individual loan assistance.
  • Local Market Duties: Public Information Officer (PIO) - Leverage media opportunities by collaborating with District and Regional staff to enhance relationships with the press.

Qualifications

At the GS-12: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service) obtained in either the Public or Private sector, which includes:

  1. Developing marketing strategy for programs and services for growth and development of a customer base; AND
  2. Developing and delivering outreach, training, presentations, and education on a variety of business management, financial management or lending topics related to small business; AND
  3. Building and managing collaborative alliances and partnerships with a variety of business development partners.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 05/17/2021.

Education

Education may not be substituted for experience at the GS-12 grade level.

Salary Range for Syracuse, New York: GS-12, step 1. $77,488 to GS-12, step 10, $100,739.
Salary Range for Albany, New York: GS-12, step 1, 78,778 to GS-12, step 10, $102,415
