    This is a Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) engineering position in support of a large complex geographical area in a state or multiple states. The position is located in a designated field or state office.

    The incumbent serves as a dam safety engineer responsible for assisting the State Conservation Engineer (SCE) carry out NRCS dam safety programs on NRCS assisted dams.

    • Directs calculations of earthwork, concrete, steel, conduits, and other materials, and prepares construction estimates and bills of materials
    • Coordinates and conducts necessary quality assurance reviews of planned, designed, and constructed engineering projects in the assigned area/state
    • Evaluates designs for practicality of construction, availability of materials, and the appropriateness of structures to the specific site.
    • Serves as subject matter expert and provides subsequent training to various personnel (including new hires) in the area of dam-related engineering practices.
