Patrol district roads, trails, or waterways to determine whether visitor use is in accordance with recreation plans and regulations and report any issues to supervisor
Identify safety hazards and then repair, remove, or replace portions of facilities using equipment and tools.
Repair items such as toilets, road closure gates, hand pumps, picnic tables, fire rings, barriers, and trash receptacles in developed recreational areas.
Monitor work done under contracts with standard provisions and interpret provisions for contractors.
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

Specialized Experience Requirement: Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position.
For the GS-06: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experienceincludes meeting one or more of the following:Inspected special use permits such as outfitter guide operations, issued notices of non-compliance issues and report to supervisor; inspected and maintained recreation facilities and areas; lead and coordinated crew to maintain recreation sites or; monitored forest areas to identify violations of federal regulations such as enforcement of off-road vehicle restrictions. OR
one full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as forestry, range management, agriculture). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. OR
combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience as described above.
For the GS-07: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experienceincludes meeting one or more if the following: Served as the point of contact with community organizations and interest groups to generate utilization of forest recreation facilities; assisted in the development of plans for recreation area maintenance, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and construction projects in accordance with program management objectives and policies; served as an inspector and/or contracting officers representative on service contracts insuring work is completed properly; and in all aspects of Special Use Permit administration for activities within undeveloped and developed areas of the unit. OR
combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience as described above.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
