Duties

Help

As a PROGRAM ANALYST OFFICER (SUICIDE PREVENTION) at the GS-0343-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves as the Associate Director of Program Oversight and Training, responsible for the planning, executing, guiding, and implementing Public Health suicide prevention policy and program evaluation and oversight, data surveillance and analysis, and training and education.
  • Recognized as an authoritative source, and works under very minimal direction from senior leadership, leading the development, tracking, and analyzing of proximal and distal performance metrics for suicide prevention in line with the Public Health approach, as well as establishing milestones for policy and program evaluation and oversight efforts for policy, statutes, Government Accountability Office (GAO)/Inspector General (IG) recommendations, and suicide prevention programs, initiatives, and pilots across the DoD suicide prevention portfolio.
  • Designs an evaluation system to assess the efficacy of current, new, and/or expanded suicide prevention programs and evaluates projected progress toward meeting policy and program objectives and compliance with provisions in current or future legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads tasks within DSPO with respect to the development and monitoring of training and educational content for Service members and their families, including the development of terminal learning objectives for suicide prevention training, training content via a public health approach to suicide prevention, and measurement of learning outcomes.
  • Serves as the principal data functional and oversight for the management of data requirements, data sharing and agreements, and data management of data tracking systems used across DoD of relevance to the public health approach to suicide prevention.
  • Writes reports, papers, and prepares and delivers briefings that describe program oversight and evaluation, policies, training, and programs for DoD leadership and other senior leaders, both for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Coordinates and communicates suicide prevention matters with other DoD components, the Military Services, other Federal Departments, nongovernment organizations, Congressional staff, and White House staff, to include spearheading, coordinating, and participating on DoD-wide and inter-agency working groups and committees.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Leads development and monitoring of training and educational content, including the development of learning objectives, training content, and measurement of learning outcomes.
  • Technical authority in development, tracking, and analyzing of program evaluation/performance metrics for suicide prevention in line with the Public Health approach, as well as establishing milestones for policy and program evaluation and oversight efforts.
  • Serves as the principal oversight for the management of data requirements, data sharing, and data management of various data sets/systems.
  • Coordinates and works with other DoD components, the Military Services, and/or other government and non government agencies, to include serving on cross-agency or inter-agency working groups/committees.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
