Help
  • Manage activities as part of the Census Bureau’s digital marketing program, including strategic content development, platform management, and program evaluation for social media accounts.
  • Develop and edit written content for online properties and channels including blogs, social media posts, and other promotional content.
  • Develop strategic communications plans, alone or in collaboration with others, including milestones, deliverables, and measures.

This position is ELIGIBLE for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g., supervisory approval).

This is a NON-BARGAINING unit position.

Relocation expenses WILL NOT be paid.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and individual states being in different phases of reopening, once the selectee becomes an employee, the report date to the official duty station/facility may be delayed until such time that management notifies the employee of their requirement to report. Until it is safe to relocate, the employee may be approved to telework to the maximum extent possible, up to and including full-time.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:  For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes:  Creating or managing products for ongoing public affairs strategies that maximize the clarity, impact, relevance, timeliness, and usefulness of statistical content; using state-of-the-art digital tools and strategies and outreach to stakeholders and the public through social media; and communicating through a variety of media and in person to a diverse audience. 

Education: Education can not be substituted for experience at this grade level. 

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

  • Ability to effectively implement and evaluate results of a comprehensive digital communication strategy.
  • Skill to successfully advise internal clients on the proper use of digital communication tools.
  • Experience with writing and editing blogs, tweets, talking points, and other materials promoting an organization’s programs and initiatives for a variety
    of multiple audiences.
  • Experience in creating strategic promotion plans for government agency or private organization initiatives, including inbound strategies.
