As a Human Resources Specialist, GS-0201-12/13, you will perform the following major duties:
Classification: Provides the full range of position management and classification functions, including identifying and justifying correct titles, series, and grades; preparing comprehensive evaluation statements; and recommending efficient organizational structures.
Staffing: Conducts merit promotion and delegated examining staffing functions, including vacancy preparation, assessment development, job analyses, applicant screening, processing personnel actions and certification.
Compensation: Advises management about pay requirements and flexibilities, such as recruitment, relocation, and retention incentives; student loan repayment; superior qualifications appointments; and premium pay.
In addition, you will have opportunities for a varied of work assignments, such as peer training, SES recruitment and performance management, preparing and delivering presentations, and writing articles about HR topics for the OIG workforce.
1. Drafting job analysis for various General Schedule positions.
2. Posting vacancy announcements and issuing certificates using an automated staffing hiring system.
3. Utilizing pay setting guidance to determine appropriate salary/premium pay.
4. Drafting position descriptions, ensuring that the proper occupational series, titles, and grades are met according to the Classification Standards.
1. Independently auditing job analyses and certificates to ensure compliance under delegated examining and merit promotion procedures.
2. Independently advising managers on multiple recruitment flexibilities (e.g., direct-hire authority, Pathways, etc.).
3. Independently advising hiring officials on various pay and compensation incentives (such as recruitment and relocation incentives).
4. Independently providing the full range of classification duties, including but not limited to writing position descriptions, applying Classification Standards, determining the proper occupational series, titles and grades, and writing classification evaluation statements.
