This position is located in the Office of Open Source Intelligence, Directorate of Threat Investigations and Analysis, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Department of State. The incumbent is responsible for providing oversight and managerial support to a team of employees in the monitoring and analysis of open source materials.
Summary
This position is located in the Office of Open Source Intelligence, Directorate of Threat Investigations and Analysis, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Department of State. The incumbent is responsible for providing oversight and managerial support to a team of employees in the monitoring and analysis of open source materials.
Occasional travel - Occasional overseas travel may be to countries with high threat levels requiring the use of personal protective equipment while exercising special safety precautions.
Identifies opportunities to mitigate threats through a variety of analytical processes; and make recommendations regarding threats to other DS offices and/or law enforcement, defense, and intelligence partners.
Develops and implements new and innovative strategies for gathering open source information or intelligence in support of DS priorities.
Articulates and outlines assignments, projects, and problems to be solved; actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review. Provides a cohesive plan for identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks for the program.
Identifies and researches requirements, directives, databases, and various sources to gather, analyze, and publish open source intelligence products information.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
Obtain/maintain eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information
One year probationary period, unless excepted by regulation.
This position requires shift work.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience collecting, monitoring and analyzing open source intelligence materials.
- Experience providing advice and guidance in the planning and execution of intelligence open source collection and analysis operations.
- Experience identifying and analyzing intelligence information to identify threats to national security.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
