Summary

The Incumbent of this position serves as an Attorney Adviser in the Office of Evaluations and Specialist Projects (ESP), reporting to the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Evaluations and Special Projects (DAIG) in the Department of State, Office of Inspector General (OIG), under the leadership of Assistant Inspector General for Evaluations and Special Projects (AIG).

Responsibilities
- Provides legal advice and services with respect to legislative, regulatory, and administration matters.
- Provides legal input on the development and structure of OIG investigations, evaluations, special reviews, special projects, and other ESP activities, including the scope of such work.
- Participates in OIG investigations, evaluations, special reviews, special projects, and other ESP activities, including drafting or reviewing reports for legal sufficiency.
- Deals with senior agency officials to resolve audit and inspection recommendations.
- Formulates and interpret ESP's policy in the audit and inspection programs and requirements.

Qualifications

Applicants apply for this position must meet the following requirements to be eligible for further consideration: Law Degree: Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school with a J.D. or LL.M. Bar Membership: Applicants must be a current member of a bar in good standing in any state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Experience: Applicants must have at least two years of specialized experience with at least one year equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Service, which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position. The specialized experience must have been gained after admission to the bar.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience providing a range of advice on various federal practice legal disciplines, including those typically practiced in a general law office, such as fiscal/procurements laws, ethics, administrative law, personnel laws, criminal law/procedures, and privacy.
- Some experience in planning and conducting administrative or whistleblower investigations.
- Experience personally handling sensitive or highly visible/high level official matters.
- Experience in writing clear, concise and persuasive summaries or reports of finding and activities.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.

Qualified candidates are assigned a score between 70 and 100.
