Duties

Help
  • Review and edit reports of operational and user tests (force development tests and experimentation, joint combined tests, and training development tests).
  • Work closely with operations research systems analysts (ORSAs), test officers, and other test team members to ensure that test documents are properly developed, grammatically correct, and technically complete.
  • Ensure that report contents support the purpose of the test performed.
  • Identify inadequacies or errors in documents and provide specific guidance for making corrections.
  • Advise on proper presentation of data and facts, adequacy of data, construction of graphics, how to treat questionable data, exclusion of extraneous data, inconsistency of data, and proper organization of text.
  • Perform independent technical review and edit of operational test plans for non-delegated (signed by USAOTC Commander) test events.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes editing technical documents for consistency, accuracy, and format; collaborating as a team member to gather information and producing written products/documents for approval/signature by managers/leaders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that included a total of 15 semester hours in Operations Research, Technical Communications, or other fields directly related to the position being filled; and at least one course above the introductory level in field(s) covered by the position. For technical manuals and specifications writers or editors, the equivalent of 15 semester hours may have been gained through vocational or educational training above the high school level at a public, private, or Armed Forces school.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
