Duties

Help

Oversees local implementation and execution of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Program, and ensures comprehensive victim services are provided through a coordinated community response. Manages all aspects of sexual assault awareness, prevention, training and victim advocacy. Serves as the co-chair of Sexual Assault Case Management Group (SACMG).  The SARC coordinates on-base resources, such as chaplains and medical treatment facilities, to meet victim needs.  Prepares for visits from inspecting authorities and criminal investigation authorities.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, criminal justice or related social or behavioral science field.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years specific experience working with victims of sexual assault or working in victim advocacy and victim advocacy services
  • Experience with the Navy SAPR program preferred
  • Must have the ability and skill to provide effective trainings and briefings; have the knowledge and skill in developing program management plans and adhering to them
  • Ability to maintain accurate statistical framework for program data collection and reports
  • Must have the ability to understand, be sensitive to, and have empathy for victims; must have the ability to develop trusting helping relationships and to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Must have the analytical ability to intervene in crisis situations, using sound professional judgment, ethical practice and common sense
  • Must have the ability to work cooperatively with military and civilian medical, social service, law enforcement and legal personnel on behalf of victims
  • Must be skilled in written and verbal communication; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and use of office software applications and equipment
  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
