Duties

Help
  • Utilize automated systems to initiate personnel requests, annual performance ratings, local recruitment efforts, and new employee orientation to support the unit.
  • Advise unit personnel on applicable laws, regulations, directives, and policies to correctly accomplish administrative tasks.
  • Utilize computer software to prepare reports, graphics, spreadsheets, database queries, charts, interoffice mail, etc., to complete assigned work tasks.
  • Handle the review and routing of correspondence; including mail, faxes, and documents to support unit communication needs.
  • Evaluate data from invoices and receipts to update and balance the budget.
  • Establish annual operating budget by collecting data to analyze the cost of project proposals, staff levels and procurement of goods and services needed to support the unit's objectives.
  • Handle procurement requests for office supplies and equipment needed to support unit employees.
  • Prepare budget requests for administrative operations, front desk operations and facility maintenance to keep unit functioning efficiently.
  • Establish and communicate guidelines and performance requirements to employees.
  • Perform administrative and human resources management functions for the unit such as providing advice, counsel or instruction on both administrative and work matters.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:

For the GS 07:
Applicants must haveone year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: Collected and analyzed budgetary information for use in the formulation and execution of budget requests and reports; Purchased supplies, equipment, and services; Created travel orders and vouchers; Composed, typed, and proofread correspondence and narrative and tabular material (i.e., databases and spreadsheets).

OR

One full year (18 semester hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (for example Business or Public Administration, or other administrative or management fields related to the position being filled). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.

OR

A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that is directly related to the position. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the methods and procedures for providing or performing a variety of functions and services applicable to the position to be filled.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
