The Information Technology Specialist, located in the Office of Management and Administration, Enterprise Services Division, is responsible for system server administration, network administration, desktop management as well as security, integrity and disaster recovery.
As an Information Technology Specialist, you will: - Serve as the technical expert and lead work on a variety of complex projects dealing with the entire System Development Life Cycle of the Office of Inspector General automated information systems and network. - Plan, implement, test and maintain the disaster recovery capabilities of the Office of Inspector General information systems. - Ensure the security and integrity of the Office of Inspector General information systems and information. - Maintain liaison with Office of Information Technology, Department of Veterans Affairs, technical experts and ensure that Office of Inspector General Information Systems and hardware maintenance is consistent with VA Information Technology policy, practice and procedures.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-13 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is: -Experience managing server infrastructures and data-center operations across one or more platforms (Unix, Linux, Windows); AND -Experience participating in the administration, optimization and troubleshooting of corporate information system infrastructures and telecommunication networks.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
