Summary

About the Position: Employees occupying these positions will provide emergency support to disaster stricken areas throughout the US. Employee must pass a stringent medical screening and be prepared to live and work in extremely austere conditions. Work schedule will initially be arduous, with much overtime. Sleeping arrangements may be limited to using a sleeping bag or in the vehicle used to move from location to location. The duty station for pay purposes for these positions is Kennewick, WA.

Duties

Help
  • Manage and provide surveillance of assigned natural disaster or emergency projects, such as training centers, maintenance shops, parking areas, general and special utility systems (including heating, air conditioning, electrical, etc.)
  • Oversee underground tank removal, HTRW cleanup on civil or military facilities, research and testing facilities, laboratories, offices, bridges, powerhouses, recreation facility, navigation projects, local flood protection projects, etc.
  • Provide technical assistance and support on the review of project plans and specifications to determine site compatibility and anticipated problems.
  • Inform contractor on requirements concerning construction scheduling, progress reporting, work acceptance procedures, safety measures, wage and hour law observance, labor relations and other matters related to contractual performance.
  • Observe and investigate all construction phases to insure compliance with contract schedules, specifications and shop drawings

  • This position requires you to satisfactorily complete a medical examination.
  • This position requires 75% or greater Business Travel in various locations throughout the United States.
  • This position is a Temporary Position; that may be extended up to a maximum of four years TERM Position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience managing and providing surveillance of assigned natural disaster or emergency projects; providing technical assistance and support for projects such as training centers, maintenance shops, parking areas, general and special utility systems (including heating, air conditioning, electrical, etc.), underground tank removal, cleanup on civil or military facilities, and research and testing facilities etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-7).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-9).
