Summary

This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG), DODIG - MISSION SUPPORT TEAM. The DODIG - MISSION SUPPORT TEAM , Financial Management Office is responsible for identifying and eliminating fraud waste, and abuse in the administration of DoD programs and operations, in accordance with the Inspector General Act of 1978, P.L. 95-452, as amended (the Act).

Duties

Help
  • The incumbent serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), with primary responsibility for oversight of the OIG financial goals through proper financial planning, and resource management.
  • Incumbent is afforded full, independent responsibility for the design, development, and examination of DoD OIG agency wide budget, financial management, accounting, managerial-advisory, reporting, procurement and financial-related matters.
  • The incumbent employs administrative and technical oversight of DoD OIG and develops associated agency-wide policies, procedures, and operational protocol.
  • The CFO is the expert advisor to the Inspector General, OIG senior leaders, Congress, and external stakeholders on budget formulation, execution, and administration; and financial management.
  • The CFO provides strategic leadership and manages the OIG resources to ensure the effective management and financial integrity of OIG programs.
  • The successful execution of the OIG budget affects the agency future funding, the relationship with other executive branch agencies and Congress, and the proper stewardship of public funds.
  • Policy and operating decisions made by the incumbent have a substantial impact on the agency?s ability to accomplish its mission.

  • Position has been designated as Secret Security designation level such as Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the Federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below.

Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-14 level in the Federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: Federal training and development organization. Experience may include managing a financial organization with competing priorities and numerous customer needs; Leading and managing the formulation, justification, presentation, and execution activities of the agency's budget process through knowledge of federal governmental financial management processes; and experience in internal management controls and accountability processes.

Note: This position requires DoD Financial Management Certification. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain the DoD Financial Management Certification within a maximum of two years after initial entry into the certification program.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
