Summary

This is a remote SUMMER 2021 internship position. The National Credit Union Administration is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for exciting internship positions. The Pathways Summer Intern Program provides paid work experiences for students to work in the communications, policy, business and other fields.

These positions are temporary, not to exceed 90 days. In rare and unusual circumstances, this position may be extended or non-competitively converted to a permanent position.

Help

The incumbent of this position will serve as a Student Trainee (IT-Cyber Security) in the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

As a Student Trainee (IT Cybersecurity), you will:

  • Perform a variety of duties in Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Assurance, and Cybersecurity.
  • Work assignments are designed to provide the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge and actual work experience in the field.
  • Assignments which require limited specialized education or training background are designed to provide familiarization with the practical application of the principles, concepts, work processes, methods, techniques, regulations, reference materials, procedures, and fundamental technical aspects of Computer Science/Programming and Information Management in general.
  • Perform a variety of duties in Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Assurance, and Cybersecurity.
  • Work assignments are designed to provide the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge and actual work experience in the field.

Qualifications

To qualify for the NCUA Pathways Summer Intern Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution pursuing a degree or certificate.
  • At the time of application, applicant must submit proof of current enrollment in a degree-seeking program. If selected, applicant must provide proof of continuing education through either the summer or fall 2021 semesters.
  • You must provide your transcripts to support your educational claims. Transcripts may be unofficial copies, but they must come from an accredited college or university, and they also must include course names and the number of semester/quarter hours.
  • Transcripts much show a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
  • If you are a student veteran, complete the questionnaire and submit required documentation as described in the "Required Documents" section.
You must meet the education and eligibility requirements for this position by the start date. Official transcripts must be obtained prior to start date in order to verify that education requirements have been met.

Education

CU-04: Completion of two years post-high school education (60 semester hours, 90 quarters hours, or equivalent).

At the time of application, all applicants must submit proof of current enrollment in a degree-seeking program and provide transcripts to support all educational claims. Transcripts may be unofficial copies at time of application to this announcement, but they must come from an accredited college or university, and they must include course names and the number of semester/quarter hours. If you are currently enrolled but in your last semester/quarter of completing your degree/certificate requirements, you must provide proof of continuing education, such as an acceptance letter as part of your application.

If selected for this position, you must provide proof of continuing education through either the summer or fall 2021 semesters and official copies of your transcripts must be sent to and received by the NCUA prior to your employment start date.


All education must be accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Additional Appointment Information:

  • The 2021 Pathways Summer Intern Program will be held remotely this year and interns will not be required to travel to the Central Office in Alexandria, VA.
  • This position is not eligible for health benefits and life insurance. Students are eligible to earn four hours of annual leave and four hours of sick leave per pay period.
  • More than the number of positions listed may be filled through this vacancy announcement.
  • This position is not in the bargaining unit.
SALARY: The hourly salary range shown is NCUA's National Pay Rate (NPR) which includes a locality rate of 16.32% for the Rest of the U.S. (RUS) geographical area. Actual hourly salary will be determined upon the location of the selectee and the applicable locality pay, per the NCUA's CU pay table. The 2021 locality rates, by location, can be found on the NCUA Careers webpage under the Salary Information section.
