Help

The incumbent is responsible for the oversight and management of the uniform, linen, and scrub automated Distribution Systems. Incumbent analyzes computer-generated data and makes independent decisions and/or recommendations to the Laundry Supervisor or Textile Care
Manager relating to linen/uniform procurement, stock levels, quotas, inventory data and budgeting information.

Plans transitions of uniforms as new or modified clothing items are introduced into the Uniform Distribution System and arranges for the disposition of obsolete stock. Reports defective clothing items to Laundry Supervisor for return to manufacturer or disposition. Processes employee information in Uniform Distribution System for RFID scanning and producing receipt of uniform items issued and uniform items turned in for employee clearance of indebtedness.

Incumbent is responsible for the management and oversight of the Scrub Dispensing and Linen Dispensing System. Coordinates and executes daily cycle count procedures to identify items for replenishment. Enters count information and regenerates automated reports. Participates in the inventory process by researching and conducting investigations to determine causes of inventory discrepancies within the point of use inventory management cabinets. Assist in the preparation of inventory adjustment reports for the Laundry Supervisor. Provides copies of research and possible explanations for adjustments. Provides recommendations to prevent future inventory discrepancies.

Monitors stock levels and request purchases of program non-repetitive items required for operation of Linen Distribution program.

Identifies possible substitutions and items requiring intensive monitoring and control.

Notifies Laundry Supervisor of changes to established par levels substitutions or deletions to the stock list. Screens and prepares supply requests for verifications of nomenclatures, quantity, unit of issue, and determines availability.

Assist Laundry Supervisor in researching, coordinating, preparing, and maintaining supply related Standard Operating Procedures for uniform, linen, and scrub distribution and inventory management.

Conducts technical functions involving oversight of stocked uniforms, linens, and scrubs. This involves the identification of requirements needed by the clinics forecast of projected demands, ordering, receiving, storage, and the identification/disposal of excess items no longer needed by the medical facilities.

Incumbent enters personnel information and process request for new uniforms, and key access to uniform, linen, and scrub distribution systems. Ensures accurate reporting of assigned uniforms.

Using various reports, analyzes data to determine changes in demand patterns and subsequently adjusts levels. Analyzes other reports to ensure that program objects are being met and initiates corrective actions where required. Assists the supervisor in conducting logistical studies to ensure that uniform, linen, and scrub operations are proceeding in an effective and economical manner.

Provides technical assistance in managing a quality control program to ensure that clean storage of uniforms, linens, and scrubs meet JACO security and infection prevention standards. Prepares monthly and quarterly reports of par level discrepancies reported to Textile Care
Manager and Textile Care Committee.

Determines appropriate alterations necessary to ensure correct fit by measuring, fitting, and marking uniform and scrub items for seamstress to alter. Takes special measurements and prepares worksheets for individuals requiring custom tailor-made uniforms and scrubs.

Responsible for performing other duties as assigned within the scope of Textile Care Processing and Distribution of Uniforms, Linens, and Scrubs.

The incumbent must be cooperative, exercise tact, diplomacy, and good judgment at all times while dealing with staff, visitors, and patients. Must be capable of working well as a team member.

May be required to operate government owned vehicle for occasional travel to facility sites for delivery or pick up of textile/linens or uniforms. Performs linen counts as required during linen transfers to and from laundry. Responsible for completing trip ticket and performing normal
vehicle operator maintenance.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet specialized experience and time in grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/02/2021.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-3. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-03 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Assisting with planning transition of uniforms as new or modified clothing items are introduced into the Uniform Distribution System and arranges for the disposition of obsolete stock. Assist in the preparation of inventory adjustment reports for the Laundry Supervisor. Helping to monitors stock levels and request purchases of program non-repetitive items required for operation of Linen Distribution program. Helping to screen and prepare supply requests for verifications of nomenclatures, quantity, unit of issue, and determines availability. Assist Laundry Supervisor in researching, coordinating, preparing, and maintaining supply related Standard Operating Procedures for uniform, linen, and scrub distribution and inventory management. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, GS level (if a federal position), duties, month & year starting and ending dates AND hours worked per week. OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. If you are qualifying on education, transcripts are required. OR,
  • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 60 semester hours (2 years) post high school is creditable. Physical Requirements: Incumbent does substantial walking and standing as well as some lifting. It may be necessary for incumbent to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance. It may be necessary for the incumbent to intermittently push/pull uniform carts weighing up to 800 pounds with assistance. Incumbent may need to perform duties that require bending, stooping or climbing on ladders.
