Duties

Help
  • Research the use of binding agents targeting broad classes of contaminants that facilitate their removal from agricultural wastewater.
  • Investigate potential chemically pretreating wastewater to enhance removal by the developed treatment process.
  • Investigate the use of polymer coating of binding agents to expand the types of compounds removed from wastewater.
  • Develop efficacy of these treatment methods for mitigating the release of pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical metabolites and other environmentally active compounds to the environment resulting from wastewater disposal.

Qualifications

This position requires a Ph.D within the last 4 years in chemistry or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Applicants must meet basic Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirements of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Education Requirement: A degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.
