    Summary

    The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is USDA's chief scientific research agency and one of the world's premiere scientific organizations. ARS Postdoctoral Research Associates are hired to supplement a lead scientist's research on agricultural problems affecting American agriculture.

    Responsibilities

    • Research the use of binding agents targeting broad classes of contaminants that facilitate their removal from agricultural wastewater.
    • Investigate potential chemically pretreating wastewater to enhance removal by the developed treatment process.
    • Investigate the use of polymer coating of binding agents to expand the types of compounds removed from wastewater.
    • Develop efficacy of these treatment methods for mitigating the release of pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical metabolites and other environmentally active compounds to the environment resulting from wastewater disposal.
