About the position:
This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Center on Grissom Air Reserve Base, Indiana.

The position is a regular part-time position, which means you are eligible for benefits and guaranteed to work at least 20 hours per week. Employees will be eligible for the use of the fitness center, lodging, and other activities. Position requires working irregular schedules, to include weekends, holidays, and all shifts.

Duties

Help

Performs a full-range of jobs involving diagnosing malfunctions, determining repair needs, repairing and testing small gasoline engines, such as those found on motor boats, lawn mowers, weed eaters, and chain saws and other similar equipment. Performs assignments independently in accordance with specifications and directives. Selects proper tools, assembly jigs, and fixtures to perform work efficiently and safely. Determines the nature and extent of repairs required on a variety of engines. Maintain maintenance records on all equipment repaired, annotating man hours, materials, and date of repair. Based on these records, determines bench stock required and maintenance schedules. Performs normal driver maintenance such as checking oil and fuel levels, windshield and vehicle interior, and checking tire pressure. Performs routine maintenance of equipment to include tune-ups, replacing cutting blades, tires, washing, etc. Instructs patrons in all phases of safety regulations concerning use of boats and motors, and other rental equipment. Checks equipment in/out from patrons. Inspects and repairs equipment as needed. May collect fees for rental of equipment and prepare daily cash reports and deposit funds. Engraves plaques, glass, wood, etc. for patrons. Builds shadowboxes and other wood items per patrons request. Selects finished wood or wood substitute/material from existing stock, measures and uses chopper to cut material to desired dimensions, and cuts stock with cutter or miter saw and glues or nails corners together. May cut grass and trims greenery as needed. Operates a motor vehicle up to two tons to haul a variety of supplies and items necessary. Operates forklift. Loads and unloads items hauled.

Qualifying Experience: Must have experience involving skill and detailed knowledge of a variety of small engines. This experience involves knowledge of diagnosing malfunctions, determining repairs needed, repairing and testing small engines, such as those found on motor boats, lawn mowers, jet skis, snowmobiles and other similar equipment.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
