Summary

Develops, coordinates, and implements the Institute's comprehensive communication plan.
Initiates and monitors media relations activities and responds to information inquiries from the public
Monitors advance and trends in public health research and develop strategies for communicating basic and clinically applicable research results.
Directs the planning and implementation of national information/public health education/outreach programs that promote NINR goals,
research and programs
Supervises the planning and implementation of nationwide mass media and other public health campaigns to support various aspects of NINR
research programs.
Leads the preparation of speeches, congressional statements, responses to congressional inquiries, and trans-agency reports and
communications.
U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for a Health Communications Specialist position at the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Designing and implementing broad marketing/outreach efforts, including print and digital products and nationwide media campaigns; responding to inquiries about research results from health care providers, researchers, the general public and the news media; supervising the planning and implementation of a nationwide mass media and other public health campaigns; advising senior leadership on health education, public information, and press relations implications (e.g. proposed management decisions, new policies and programs, scientific and political controversies, news events, etc.)
