Summary

Creates the strategic vision for the NCEPCR that support CEPI's, AHRQ's and DHHS's goals and mission, and includes a plan for expanding the Center through grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.
Develops a national primary care research agenda that support AHRQ's and CEPI's goals and mission by engaging with internal and external stakeholders and by systematically identifying primary care problem areas and research gaps.
Serves as a recognized expert within the areas of primary care and primary care research; oversees the development of funding solicitations for grants or contracts related to primary care research.
As a member of CEPI's leadership team, participates in supporting and aligning ongoing primary care projects across all divisions within the Center, as well as other primary care activities across AHRQ.
Serves as AHRQ's main point of contact with the primary care community, communicating the evidence from AHRQ's research and how this evidence can be used to improve the quality of care and health outcomes.
Provides medical expertise, consultation, technical review and advisory assistance to other components of AHRQ, DHHS, and private sector organizations such as managed care organizations, academic institutions, professional organizations and clinical providers regarding primary care research, methods, infrastructure and workforce.
Supports AHRQ scientists in conducting intramural primary care research by designing and offering training in primary care research design and methods and providing consultation/mentoring.

Clinical Research Evaluation: An individual who is actively engaged in clinical research evaluation and whose work in this area is considered by recognized experts or peers in the field of clinical research evaluation to be outstanding. One or more of the following achievements must be present to demonstrate you have received such recognition: a) Significant experience dealing with complex, precedent-setting evaluation issues having far reaching implications for clinical research or resulted in a widespread economic effect in the health-care delivery system; b) Taken an active role in the development of significant scientific or regulatory guidelines for clinical research evaluation; c) Been the recipient of invitations to speak at or to chair major national or international meetings and symposia; or d) Meet other criteria demonstrating sufficient rigor or accomplishment in a relevant or closely related field that is necessary to the accomplishment of the mission.
