    NOAA is seeking bright, innovative, results-oriented students who are pursuing a degree or certificate program in an accredited educational institution for our Summer Intern Program.  The NOAA Summer Intern Program targets students currently enrolled (or currently enrolled and accepted for enrollment) in a degree-seeking or Certificate program at least on a half-time basis. (Applicants who do not meet the definition of student by the closing date of the announcement will not be considered).

    These positions will be located in the National Weather Service (NWS).

    Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) for Honolulu, HI is 10.28%, and 3.13% for Mayaguez, PR and is not federally taxed. The COLA is not reflected in the locality salary shown in this vacancy announcement. COLAs are exempt from Federal income taxes; post differentials are not.

    As a Student Trainee (Physical Science), you will receive on-the-job and formal training to provide experience in the operation and familiarization with physical science programs, policies, and procedures, and an opportunity to perform progressively more responsible assignments as experience is gained.

    This position is not in the bargaining unit.
