Duties

Help
  • You will advise the Character Integration Advisory Group and Simon Center for Professional Military Ethic Directors on all programs, policies, and issues pertaining to Officership.
  • You will determine innovative ways to educate, train and inspire commissioned leaders of character from the Corps of Cadets.
  • You will enhance the United States Military Academy's commissioned officer development program and serves as the United States Military Academy's subject matter expert on Officership and the Army profession.
  • You will coordinate, and integrate aspects of the Army Profession and Army Ethic in our curriculum and activities at West Point.
  • You will develop, implement, and assess Officership programs and provides input on the West Point Leader Development System.
  • You will guide the strategic architecture, design, writing of intellectual property, preparation, teaching, training, evaluation and improvement for MX400, The Superintendent's Capstone Course on Officership.
  • You will collaborate with members of the Character Integration Advisory Group to improve character education in all developmental programs.
  • You will teach a minimum of 2 sections of The Superintendent's Capstone Course on Officership.
  • You will maintain communication with the United States Military Academy's Class of 1969.

Qualifications

This is full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 2 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Education and Academic Accomplishment (Ph.D. in education, human development, and/or a related experience is preferred). 2) Demonstrated ability to teach and assess educational programs at the college level (three or more years of teaching experience strongly preferred); 3) Ability to design and implement curriculum and administrate in an academic environment (three or more years of experience strongly preferred); 4) Ability to work cooperatively and interact effectively in a cadet-centered curriculum dedicated to the development of future army officers. 5) Experience as a member of a profession who effectively communicates and collaborates with leaders who are responsible for stewardship of a profession.
