As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will serve as a staff officer in the Community Relations and Outreach Division in the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs.
Review, plan, coordinate and execute community relations and outreach events.
Develop and disseminate public affairs, community relations and outreach plans.
Plan and direct the communication of Department of the Army (DA) information programs, policies and actions using a variety of communication methods.
Coach DA spokespeople on effectively disseminating messages through media.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Shift work may be required to perform night work hours.
Employee may be required to work weekends and holidays.
One year trial period may be required.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes developing and executing community relations and outreach engagements in support of a national- or international-level communications campaign; developing communications plans for a national or international-level campaign; reviewing written materials including news releases, fact sheets, speeches, and social media content; providing oral presentations to various internal and external groups to explain issues, programs and activities of the agency. This specialized experience is equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal service.
