Duties

Help
  • Control of movement of personnel and vehicles through the installation access control points.
  • Inspect personnel for appearance, condition of weapons and equipment, knowledge of duties, and manner of performance.
  • Inspection of private or commercial vehicles entering or leaving the installation.
  • Enforce personnel identification and control system.
  • Coordinate the activities of three shifts of security guards, through subordinate supervisors.
  • evelop training courses based on regulatory requirements and supervises necessary training for guard personnel.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the National Crime Information Center terminals.
  • Must be able to complete the IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply
  • Mandatory drug testing on a recurring basis.
  • Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary.
  • Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification
  • Must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
  • Must successfully complete security guard training.
  • Must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid.
  • May be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment.
  • Required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license.
  • Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • Must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
  • Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
  • Must be able to perform as a member of the installations overall security response capability.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service which includes work that involves: 1) Experience managing a security guard force; 2) Protecting property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; 3)Maintaining order and protecting life; AND 4) Knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the ArmedServices or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone---no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
