Serve as a Health Scientist and manage all activities related to handling allegations of research misconduct in biomedical research.
Utilize scientific knowledge and expertise to perform scientific and administrative reviews and analyses of institutional research misconduct proceedings, including investigation reports, for completeness and consistency.
Evaluate evidence and prepare cases to support findings of research misconduct and recommends administrative actions.
Provide technical assistance and information on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and ORI policies to institutions that respond to allegations of research misconduct.
Explain complex scientific data and concepts to scientists and lay audiences through clear oral and written communications.

Basic Requirement: You must meet the items listed below:
Possess a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Must provide transcripts)
Specialized Experience: GS-13: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service that includes the following:
Conducting scientific and/or biomedical research;
Utilizing laboratory, technological, and/or statistical methodologies to conduct research;
Analyzing the quality and/or integrity of complex datasets related to scientific research programs or policies; and
Evaluating and/or interpreting data and information for dissemination to the biomedical research community, legal and senior staff, and/or the public.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.

Additional information
Although not required, the ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree) in the health sciences or related field, with a high-level of experience in performing scientific and administrative reviews and analyses, and having obtained extensive competencies in developing and performing qualitative and quantitative approaches for evaluating scientific research.
