Duties

Help

Assists in delivery of the Single Sailor Program to deliver recreation programs and special events.  Maintains reports, set work schedules and evaluate performance of assigned staff.  Addresses potential disciplinary and/or performance issues timely and takes appropriate corrective actions as necessary. Coordinates leisure skills development activities.  Directs recruitment and utilization of volunteers.  Conducts Port Operations boarding brief to promotes MWR facilities and events.  Works directly with the Marketing department to provide quarterly and monthly calendars, electronic media updates and special even programs for the Single Sailor Program.  Will perform data entry and create word documents is support of assigned duties.  Will answer telephones and provide customer information on upcoming MWR events.  Sets up for special functions and events and performing/overseeing custodial and maintenance duties as needed.  Prepares and justifies annual and monthly operating budgets, tracks and monitors credit card purchases. Assumes accountability for all equipment used for the Single Sailor program

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Prior supervisory experience. Experience in planning and delivering recreation programs and events. Knowledge of general office practices and computer skills and experience with inventory and data collection. Excellent customer service skills and proper telephone etiquette.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

Knowledge gained through relevant education and training (i.e., Bachelor's Degree in Recretaion, Marketing, Business or closely related field) and/or equivalent recreation related work experience.  Four year degree in Recreation desirable. 

Additional information

• Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
• For positions requiring travel more than twice per year, selectee may be required to obtain and maintain in good standing a Government-issued Travel Card for official government travel purposes.
