As a member of the Program Audits and Evaluations (PAE) or Information Technology Audits and Cyber (ITC) team, the incumbent is responsible for conducting high-quality work and helping to produce timely reports based on reliable evidence, sound analysis, logical reasoning, and critical thinking. Exercises good judgment in carrying out duties and responsibilities consistent with the OIG’s Guiding Principles. These principles set forth the vision, mission, values, goals, and objectives for the Office.
FDIC preserves and promotes public confidence in the U.S. financial system by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for at least $250,000. Our Office mission is to prevent, deter, and detect waste, fraud, abuse, and misconduct in the FDIC programs, activities, and functions; and to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness at the FDIC. Audits conducted by the OIG have financial aspects in line with the agency mission. Work performed by the incumbent is majority performance audits to include performing analysis, evaluations and assessments of the performance of FDIC programs, activities and functions.
Uses foundational knowledge of audit and evaluation standards to perform audit or evaluation work under the direction of an OIG Manager and with guidance from an Auditor-or Evaluator-in-Charge. Performs less complex procedures and tasks and/or assists more senior team members in completing complex assignment procedures or tasks involved in an audit or evaluation. Assignment working papers are subject to review by an Auditor-or Evaluator-in-Charge or more senior team members.

Basic Requirements for Performance Auditors:
Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. Education:
CG-07: At least one full year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement directly related to this position.
CG-09: At least two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master’s degree, master’s, or equivalent graduate degree directly related to this position.
Specialized Experience:
CG-07: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the grade 05 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that demonstrates a basic knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, concepts and methods and an ability to conduct audits, evaluations, and review assignments.
CG-09: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the grade 07 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience demonstrating a professional knowledge of and skill in applying accounting and auditing concepts, principles, and methods sufficient to work independently using conventional procedures and practices that apply to most situations encountered.
