Serves as the subject matter expert in aquatics, reporting directly to the Outdoor Recreation Director or Deputy Director. Responsible for providing direct day-to-day oversight of the Base Aquatics Facility to include oversight of any contractor working directly within or for the pool facility as well as all other NAF employees assigned to the pool. Supervises and oversees all operations going on inside the pool facility to include swimming lessons, pool parties, snack bar, scuba classes as well as the scheduling and supervision of each of these functions. Makes day-to-day adjustments to the facility management based on the established needs and priorities of customers, contractors, and higher level supervision. Responsible for the opening of the aquatics facility, daily pool facility inspections, as well as is responsible for the closing procedures to make sure the facility is safe and secure at closure time. Resolves all informal customer complaints; refers more involved complaints to supervisor. Ensures pool water chemistry is checked according to established schedules and instructions (e.g., temperature, chlorine level, pH level etc.), documents and reports anomalies. Maintains records work accomplishments to include the daily cash handling procedures, cash deposit paperwork and water chemistry reports. Responsible for workforce management, recruitment, staff training, discipline and evaluations. Provides supervisory guidance and assigns work to lower graded employees and the work of contract guards. Monitors the contractor guards, provides direction, supervision and guidance on non-lifeguard issues. Responsible for scheduling all contractor provided swimming lessons. Ensures the aquatics facility is properly cleaned and maintained on a daily basis and in accordance with established schedules and instructions. Directly responsible for the resale snack operation of the aquatics facility to include inventory, purchasing, and customer sales; supervision of NAF employees, and cash handling procedures. Reports equipment/facility problems to the appropriate personnel for repairs or maintenance in and attempt to resolve those concerns as quickly as possible; refers such matters to higher level supervision when needed. Performs all other duties as assigned by higher level supervision.
