In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience for GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes: writing articles for publishing via social media and web channels; familiarizing with new products, brands, services and policies for developing marketing and social media campaigns; use of graphic design software (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite's Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator) and Social Media Publishing Tools for creating digital content for a marketing/social media campaign. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Marketing, Social Media, Communications, Journalism, and Public Relation.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience for GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes: Developing, planning, coordinating, and managing social media, internet, and intranet digital graphic and written content for a marketing program; preparing website and social media reports for leadership; collecting marketing and social media data through research; following social media, marketing, and technology treads to maintain a relevant virtual marketing campaign; using Excel or Google Docs for modeling, planning, and studying social media trends. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Marketing, Social Media, Communications, Journalism, and Public Relations.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: Developing digital strategy and campaign plans for managing marketing and social media programs and content marketing techniques for digital recruiting operations in alignment with organization's priorities and mission; creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience through the use of Web and social networking sites to include, Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat, Youtube, Flickr, and other social platforms; analyzing and interpreting customer data from analytical tools and dashboards such as Analytics, Tag Manager, Hubspot, Pardot, Marketo, Optimizely and others for tracking impacts related to campaign success; teaching a new product, digital tool, application, software, etc., to customers, marketing team, and leadership; presenting data to leadership to keep informed on campaign issues or necessary strategic changes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above).
