Incumbent will be responsible for the management and repair of Building Automation Systems (BAS) in support of Research Facility campus controls. Duties include but are not limited to troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems, associated Central Utility Plant utilities and the monitoring, associated maintenance and repair of Building Automation Systems. Additionally, applicant will be responsible to review and acknowledge assigned alarms, temporarily adjust or override control set points; monitor trend logs as needed. Must possess technical expertise necessary to review and provide written technical feedback on controls related projects. Incumbent shall be capable of developing sequence of operations and specifications for upgrades/additions to the existing building automation system. Successful applicant will be proficient in troubleshooting, diagnosing and operating HVAC related problems as they relate to automation systems. Incumbent shall perform system backups, maintain networks and any automation programming for the Building Automation System. Incumbent shall possess the knowledge necessary to perform testing and commissioning of all newly installed automation systems associated with the HVAC environment.
Ensure conformance of projects to established division Facility Site and BMS Standards; Identify system deficiencies; Create plans for corrections and work to execute deficiency corrections; Perform all assigned preventative maintenance (PMs) and repairs; Serve as a facility supporting team member to assure that facility heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, HVAC networks, and Building Automation Systems (BAS) (currently JCI Metasys) are available and in working order for the assigned Buildings on the NIST Boulder, CO site. Candidate will be tasked with duties for the installation of new systems, performing of major and minor modifications and the developing of division work orders for the HVAC systems and associated networks. In addition to building automation duties, successful applicant will also use their expertise in HVAC systems to provide support and troubleshooting in the field for the site mechanical systems. The incumbent will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, tests, and repairs on mechanical equipment as required. The incumbent also serves as a member of the snow removal crew and performs operator checks on their vehicle.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
FOR A ZT-III
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To be qualified for this position, applicants must have one year (52 Weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-08 grade level (ZT-II for NIST employees) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in performing repair and operation of the building controls systems to include direct digital controls (DDC) and pneumatic controls for HVAC systems in an HVAC application.
OR
Two full years of Graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position.
OR
A master’s degree that is directly related to the work of the position.
FOR A ZT-IV
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
To be qualified for this position, applicants must have one year (52 Weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-10 grade level (ZT-III for NIST employees) in the Federal service or specialized experience defined as experience installing and servicing HVAC Equipment including Building Automation Systems (BAS); experience in integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (i.e. LON, BacNet, N2, Modbus, etc); AND conducting preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning and servicing of HVAC and Building Automation Systems (including detailed troubleshooting).
For both ZT-III/IV: Also, will be required to obtain a universal CFC certification within 9 months of employment to support refrigerant recovery needs.
