Conducts studies in basic and applied computational biology, including metagenome assembly, DNA/RNA sequencing, taxonomic classification, and data management.
Develops an extensible pipeline for metagenome DNA sequence data analysis and documents pipeline features for deployment as part of the USDA's SCINet initiative.

Qualifications
This position requires a recent Ph.D in biology or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of analyzing microbiological sequence data, metagenome assembly analysis, and a practical understanding of rumen microbiology is highly desired.
Applicants must meet basic Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirements of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
