    Summary

    This position is in the Office of Audits, Inspections, and Evaluations (AIE). The AIE manages, supervises, coordinates, and conducts audits, inspections, and evaluations relating to Department of the Interior (DOI) programs and operations, including, but not limited to, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in such programs and operations of the DOI employees, contractors, grantees, lessees, or any other persons or entities doing business with the DOI.

    Responsibilities

    As a Supervisory Auditor, GS-0511-14, you will lead and oversee teams performing complex audits, inspections, and evaluations that enhance the operations of the DOI. This position:

    • Provides supervision, direction, and general oversight to all phases of the technical and administrative operations of division or unit staff, which include auditors, evaluators, and other professional and administrative staff. Plans, assigns, and manages the work of the division or unit; sets goals; establishes timelines; and determines scope and parameters. Identifies the need for special skills or expertise. Provides counsel to staff on administrative and technical matters.
    • Coordinates, plans, and performs complex and sensitive audits, inspections, or evaluations covering Department programs, activities, and its contractors and grantees. Assists in developing, updating, and implementing audit policies and procedures. Directs the development of and prepares audit guides. Ensures adequacy and compliance of staff performance and completed work products with approved work plans, Office of AIE policies and operating procedures, GAGAS, and Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Quality Standards.
    • Prepares work papers and written reports covering work performed and conclusions reached. Synthesizes final products include material submitted by team members according to established guidelines.
    • Briefs internal management orally on the work performed. Attends meetings with DOI management officials of all levels to explain and justify findings and recommendations.
