The position is located in the Chief Medical Office for the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization (OEHRM), within the Office of the Deputy Secretary of VA. OEHRM is responsible for ensuring that VA successfully prepares for, deploys, and transitions to a new Electronic Health Record system. OEHRM will ensure the modernized EHR system is positioned to meet VA needs, and enable seamless delivery of healthcare to Veterans and qualified beneficiaries.

Initiates, develops, oversees and directs assigned national HIM program areas related to the electronic
health record modernization (EHRM), assesses their impact on VHA HIM system-wide, and produces
work products such as written policies and procedures, guidelines, references, and training.
Represents the VHA HIM Program Office on issues in areas such as the electronic health record, the
personal health record, health information exchange, privacy, clinical coding, data capture, documentation
principles, health record standards, health record maintenance, release of information, records
management and other areas that are either impacted by or impact HIM.
Collaborates with facilities and networks to identify HIM program strengths and weaknesses to determine
corrective actions for remediation in the EHRM project when applicable, and to identify potential best
practices for implementation at facilities. Develops sustainable methodologies at the national level for
achieving compliance with new and changing regulations pertaining to the EHRM program areas related
to HIM in order to improve effectiveness.
Supports and assists in achievement of all program long and short-term goals, plans and objectives.
Ensures actions are made to support HIM goals and objectives.
Incumbent is recognized as the program authoritarian and SME on electronic health record modernization
health information management activities.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 08:00am-4:30pm
