Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Investigating, you will:

  • Serve as a first-level supervisor and lead a staff of investigators responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and guiding programs related to administrative investigations and related activities.
  • Independently plan, coordinate, lead and manage investigations into administrative or civil cases regarding the integrity of the Department’s programs, operations, and personnel.
  • Responsible for the development of written reports and proposals, setting forth all facts and circumstances with a view towards substantially affecting OI program planning, organizational improvements, and relationships with other DOC bureaus and programs and external law enforcement organizations.
  • Write position descriptions and participate in the selection, assignment, and promotion of subordinate personnel.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30  days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: 

-Experience with investigative principles, techniques, methods and procedures applicable to administrative investigations and/or reviews; AND
-Providing technical/professional advice and assistance to other investigators and team members; AND
-Managing investigative projects in a leading position over investigative work relating Hotline, Whistleblower Reprisal and Senior Official allegations; AND
-Managing a high performing investigative team focused on assessing all incoming hotline complaints and other administrative referrals.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.  Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
- Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.

- Top Secret – Background Investigation will be required.
