Duties

Help
  • Receive and transfer petroleum products from commercial tank trucks to storage tank.
  • Check receiving documents on incoming shipments for proper identification of fuel and designation of shipment.
  • Deliver bulk fuel as required utilizing and operating fuel tanker truck with a gross weight capacity of up to 22,000 lbs. or more.
  • Conduct inspections of Class III Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricant (POL) facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environment and safety requirements at bulk storage POL facilities.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must pass a pre-employment and annual physical examination
  • Heavy lifting of up to 70 lbs. may be required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CDL Class A or B WITH HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements.
  • Operator's license or certification required.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Fuel Distribution System Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. Your resume must reflect the ability to perform common Fuel Distribution System Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) tasks: I can effectively apply a variety of methods to operate fuel systems in the performance of conducting bulk refueling operations. I can effectively work at one or several fuel distribution system(s) or operate a complete refueling system to receive, store, transfer and dispense petroleum products. I can make minor repairs to tanks, pumps, motors and/or valves. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work requires considerable standing, walking, bending, working in awkward conditions, and climbing on tanks and heavy mobile equipment. Exerts light to moderate physical effort while performing operations such as connecting hoses and opening valves. Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment that weigh over 70 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: Much f the work is done outside in all kinds of weather, around moving parts and vehicles. There is some danger of fire, exposure to toxic fumes, excessive noise, vibration, and falls from the top of vehicles. Tanks and pumps are equipped with hose that collect fumes before they escape into the air. Work may be dirty, dusty and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises, injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting load, and overturning.
