As a IT Specialist (DATAMGT), you will:

  • Develop and grow CFPB’s enterprise cloud data platform, making use of technologies such as Big Data as a Service, serverless frameworks for ETL and pipeline management, cloud monitoring and alarming solutions, and provisioning compute resources using infrastructure as code.
  • Consult on design and development of automated data collection systems, ensuring efficient data transfers and ‘best-practice’ strategies.
  • Develop code for internal data management and ETL processes, such as cron jobs, database load/updates, stored procedures, data parsing, data validation, and other data pipeline activities.
  • Develop code/policies that can help ensure the rigorous application of information security information assurance policies, principles, and practices in CFPB’s data operations.

Qualifications

Specialized experience: For the CN-53, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CN-52grade level in the Federal service (For qualification purposes, the CN-52 is broadly equivalent to the GS-12). Specialized experience for this position includes: 

  • Implementing and helping define data strategies via leveraging enterprise data platform solutions; AND
  • Experience working with and managing cloud based data infrastructure, leveraging data related systems and services such as Snowflake, Redshift, PostgreSQL, Databricks, EMR, DynamoDB, Neo4j, Kinesis, Elasticsearch, S3, etc; AND
  • Designing and developing code for applications, programs, or scripts to create and maintain automated data pipeline systems; AND
  • Working with customers to assess data management requirements via technical discovery efforts, evaluation of existing systems/emerging technologies; AND
  • Utilizing Agile methodologies to lead or manage data engineering related projects.

Specialized experience: For the CN-52, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CN-51 grade level in the Federal service (For qualification purposes, the CN-51 is broadly equivalent to the GS-11). Specialized experience for this position includes: 

  • Implementing data strategies via leveraging enterprise data platform solutions; AND
  • Designing and/or developing code for applications, programs, or scripts to create or maintain automated data pipeline systems; AND
  • Experience working with and/or managing cloud based data infrastructure, leveraging data related systems and services such as Snowflake, Redshift, PostgreSQL, Databricks, EMR, DynamoDB, Neo4j, Kinesis, Elasticsearch, S3, etc; AND
  • Working with customers to assess data management requirements via technical discovery efforts, evaluation of existing systems/emerging technologies; AND
  • Utilizing Agile methodologies to manage data engineering related projects.

Specialized experience: For the CN-51, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CN-40 grade level in the Federal service (For qualification purposes, the CN-40 is broadly equivalent to the GS-09). Specialized experience for this position includes: 

  • Developing code for applications, programs, or scripts to create or maintain data pipeline systems; AND
  • Experience working with cloud based data infrastructure or services, leveraging data related systems and services such as Snowflake, Redshift, PostgreSQL, Databricks, EMR, DynamoDB, Neo4j, Kinesis, Elasticsearch, S3, etc; AND
  • Participating in the effort to assess customer data management requirements via technical discovery efforts, evaluation of existing systems/emerging technologies; AND
  • Experience with Agile methodologies to participate in data engineering related projects;

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
