For permanent Census employees, this is a competitive temporary promotion opportunity not to exceed (NTE) 1 year or 9/25/2021, whichever comes first; this temporary promotion may be extended or terminated earlier. At the conclusion of the temporary promotion, the permanent Census employees will return to their position of record.

For all other Department of Commerce (DOC) employees, this is a competitive temporary appointment opportunity not to exceed (NTE) 1 year or 9/25/2021, whichever comes first; this temporary appointment may be extended or terminated earlier. 

A probationary period may be required.

A supervisory probation period may be required.

Relocation expenses will not be paid.

The work schedule for this position is Mixed Tour. With a Mixed Tour work schedule, an employee may be changed between full-time, part-time and intermittent work schedules to accommodate fluctuating workloads and is subject to a signed agreement.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:

For the GG-07, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service.

Experience for this position includes establishing office techniques and procedures to conform with technical instruction pertaining to the survey; developing lists, securing sources material such as building permits and maps of building tracts, and bringing mailing lists up to date; reviewing and summarizing field representatives reports, production performance reports; or reading, digesting and interpreting all programs instructions and memoranda relating to the assigned survey.

OR

Education: You have one full year of graduate level education.

OR

You have superior academic achievement, which is defined as one (or more) of the following: Membership in a national honor society; graduating in the upper 1/3 of the class; earning an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.95 (on a 4.0 scale) in the final 2 undergraduate years completed; earning a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.95; earning an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.45 in the major field of study during the final 2 undergraduate years completed; or earning a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.45 in the major field of study.

For the GG-09, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service.

Experience for this position includes obtaining, compiling, editing and summarizing information and statistical or quantitative data; extracting program data to review and verify statistical or quantitative data to identify unexpected results and recommend solutions to correct recurring data gathering problems. Recruiting, selecting, and appointing candidates while serving as a reviewing official on the evaluation of non-supervisory employees rated by subordinate supervisors or managers.  Prioritizing and completing assignments or projects with rigid deadlines on a tight schedule.

OR

Education: You have two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; LL.B or J.D., if related.

For the GG-11, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service.

Experience for this position includes planning and executing assignments, which include the design of general data collection and analytical procedures that are different from established systems; checking the calculations, analyzing results, drawing conclusions, and in extracting, reviewing, verifying, and analyzing numerical information and /or statistical or quantitative data in order to prepare comprehensive reports which explain significant trends in data; conducting technical interviews for administrative, technical or support positions; recommending candidates for appointment or assignments while managing and advising employees on work assignments.

OR

Education: You have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related.

NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
