Duties

Help
  • Perform grounds maintenance using lawn mower, tractors, and bob cat.
  • Perform snow removal operations on sidewalks and driveways.
  • Perform daily operator's maintenance on all equipment used whether hand or engine driven equipment.
  • Perform general labor duties to include digging ditches, grading, sloping, and occasional jack hammering.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Tractor Operator~ without more than normal supervision. Operating one or more grounds maintenance vehicles including field tractors, mowers, fertilizers, spreaders, snow removal and tree removal equipment. I have maneuvered grounds maintenance vehicles around objects such as shrubs, curbs and high grass; and used a variety of grounds maintenance equipment such as, weed trimmers, shovels, rakes etc. to perform various grounds keeping tasks. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Exerts very heavy physical effort in doing tasks such as frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds, running power mowers on grades, pushing heavy wheelbarrow loads of cement, using picks and jack hammers to remove damaged pavement, shoveling asphalt, etc. Duties require frequent and continual bending, reaching, pushing, kneeling, and lifting.
  • Working Conditions: Works outside in all types of weather and inside in areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy. Equipment, tools, and tasks frequently require special care to avoid serious injuries. Subject to loud noises, dirt, grease, oil, cuts, burns, and other injuries from handling materials, tools, and equipment. May require use of protective shoes, gloves, and safety glasses when working around craftsmen or asphalt repair work. Some work is performed outdoors under various weather conditions.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
