Duties

Help
  • You will assist in translating TPO goals into objectives, assignments, and deliverables in support of the RAM Missile Program.
  • You will direct/support integration of the round with the launcher and ship combat systems in an effort to maximize overall system performance.
  • You will support current and future development programs utilizing simulation-based acquisition while maintaining a balance between cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • You will be responsible for planning and execution of budgets with respect to staffing (and staff development), tasking, and delivering data products required by RAMPO.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field SYSTEMS ENGINEERING TRACK Level 03. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9/11) or pay band (DP-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional INTERDISCIPLINARY SCIENTIST/ENGINEER. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Knowledge of Modeling and Simulation and experience with US Naval combat system models and simulations, including missiles and launchers; 2) Knowledge of the operation, construction, theory of operation and modeling of missile passive RF/IR sensors, guidance/control systems, lethality in all digital, distributed testbeds, and signal processor-in-the-loop simulations; 3) Experience managing and leading a project team including project planning, project development, budget estimating, project workflow and sequencing, budget tracking, progress reporting, sponsor status briefings, fostering stakeholder relationships, final project close-out and reporting, and future project planning and strategies.

Education

You must meet the minimum education requirement:

0801, 0830, 0850, 0854, 0855, 0861, 0893:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:

1310:

A: Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.

OR

B: Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.

1320:

A: Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

OR

B: Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

1515:
Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

1520:
A: Degree: mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.

OR

B: Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

1550:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
