The Mental Health Service at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks (VHSO) seeks an energetic and skilled Psychiatrist to provide Mental Health Services located at the Branson VA Outpatient Clinic, Branson, Missouri.

Summary
The Mental Health Service at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks (VHSO) seeks an energetic and skilled Psychiatrist to provide Mental Health Services located at the Branson VA Outpatient Clinic, Branson, Missouri.
Highly qualified candidates may be eligible for a recruitment/relocation incentive.
Performs psychiatric evaluations for a diverse population, including geriatric and post deployment combat Veterans, who are mentally ill and have psychosocial issues such as homelessness, unemployment, and poor family support network.
Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.
Modalities for patient care include face-to-face, tele-video, and phone calls as clinically appropriate. Provider must be able to incorporate alternative encounter modalities into clinic.
Ensures practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.
Maintains appropriate licensing and board certifications as applicable.
Participates effectively in team meetings and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care.
Functioning as part of a psychiatric care team working with other physicians, PA's, APN's, nurses and/or other support staff. Works as collaborating physician with PA's and APN's as necessary.
Orders diagnostic tests and consultations. Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
May participate in supervision and teaching in support of medical students and residents in training.
May be asked to perform on call duties depending on practice location, and other duties as assigned.
Primary responsibilities in outpatient Psychiatric Services.
1 hour provided for new patients, 30 minutes for follow ups.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call Schedule: Depending on location, may be required to take call every 6-8 weeks, as required by service. 1:1 post call days provided for any weekends/holidays.
Financial Disclosure Report: Not required.
Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program within VHA. If selected for this position you must meet specific individual eligibility criteria in accordance with VHA policy 1021 and apply for EDRP within four (4) months of appointment. Final award amount and program start date is determined after review of a complete EDRP application and supporting documentation by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.
Physical Requirements: The Physical Requirements of this position are concerned with the mental and physical ability of the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the proposed assignment and may include requisite laboratory and other screening as required by Federal regulatory agencies. Physician applicants must have the mental and physical ability to perform core privileges required by the specialty position in addition to any specialty privileges requested. Position requires walking, bending, stooping, moderate lifting (15-44 lbs), light carrying (under 15 lbs), use of fingers, both hands required, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaegar 1 to 4, specific visual requirement (20/50 one, 20/100 other), hearing aid permitted, specific hearing requirements (ability to hear conversational voice aid permitted), mental and emotional stability, protracted or irregular hours of work in the direct care of patients. There may also be extended periods of sitting. Work requires daily trips from employee's work-area to other areas throughout the clinic.
