Duties

As a Production Controller (Aircraft), GS-1152-09 you will:

(This position is located within the Maintenance Operations Center, 116th Maintenance Operations Flight. Candidates must have a general knowledge of the E-8C weapon system and its function within the USAF/ANG as well as thorough working knowledge of AF Maintenance Information Systems (IMDS) and all AFI's that relate to USAF aircraft status and inventory reporting. Candidates must possess the ability to decipher the E-8C Minimum Equipment System Listing (MESL) as contained in AFI 21-103. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, such as Excel, Word, Power Point and SharePoint are necessary. This position requires the ability to communicate with a variety of agencies (on and off base), via phone, radio, fax, and email in a clear, concise and professional manner. This position will require shift flexibility to support 24/7 flight line operations and weekend duty may be required. Employees may be placed on any schedule at the discretion of the shift supervisor but will be scheduled for no more than 40 hours per week unless compensatory time is requested prior to shift placement).

Implement preliminary (advance) maintenance plans for assigned weapon systems and schedules immediate maintenance for transient aircraft. Designates, maintains and monitors current maintenance repair priorities of aircraft to ensure actuality and compliance with flying schedules. Authorizes and assigns aircraft maintenance jobs, job control numbers either manually or through a computerized maintenance system, work priorities, and start and completion times for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of aircraft. Conducts the control and dispatch of shop assignments. Monitors progress of job completion by dispatched personnel. Controls maintenance on assigned aircraft and related support and training equipment. Takes prompt and decisive action to make on- the-spot adjustments to maintenance repair priorities necessitated by unscheduled maintenance requirements, and incorporates all unscheduled maintenance into a daily plan.

Maintain visual aids depicting status of maintenance actions in progress, specialist availability and status of aerospace vehicles, aerospace ground equipment (AGE), training equipment, transportation and tow vehicles, munitions loads, arming of guns and munitions, and location of aircraft and dispatched AGE. Maintains a visual schedule of daily flying, noting deviations and cancellations.

Coordinate with Materiel Control on mission capable (MICAP) and non-mission capable status (NMCS) of parts, adjustments to in-shop work priorities, and verification of urgency of need designators. Determines the source of supply for cannibalization actions.

Coordinate with Quality Assurance on functional check flight (FCF) requirements, Air Operations on flying schedule, other maintenance shops for coordination of repair work and with other functional areas as required.

Request necessary support services such as fire fighting activity standby, fuel and defuel and civil engineer support. Directs physical movement of aircraft and aerospace ground equipment.

Control the maintenance communications and transportation systems to provide for the effective transmission of information and movement of material and maintenance personnel.

Develop and maintain current procedural check sheets for use during actions such as mass loads combat turnaround, broken arrow (nuclear emergency), emergency notification, aircraft crash, flightl1ne fire, severe weather warning evacuation. Monitors and revises the sequence of preselected aircraft required for contingency commitments.

Make required inputs to the automated data system and retrieves data and/or computer generated products as required.

Conduct training of assigned military personnel.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as providing planning, scheduling and control of aircraft maintenance through a variety of support maintenance shops. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resource Management or Business Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
