Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Social Science Analyst (COVID-19), your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Works directly for the Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity in support of the NIH Director, the Office of the Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity, and more broadly the NIH with responsibility for providing technical guidance and assistance relating to scientific/administrative program planning, and evaluation activities.
  • Plans, develops, and implements targeted workforce diversity research programs.
  • Develops protocols and ensures their compliance with the NIH policies and guidelines.
  • Develops analytical documents, synthesizing and presenting results of data analyses, drawing inferences, outlining options, and making recommendations.
  • Provides management oversight of a team of analysts, advises leadership on a range of topics including programmatic, policy, and operational functions of the office, contributes to shaping the direction of the office, and coordinates the planning and implementation of major projects.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-14 level if you meet the following qualification requirements:

Basic qualification requirements:
I have a degree in the behavioral or social sciences or related discipline appropriate to the position
OR
I have a combination of education and experience that provide me with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field
OR
I have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrate that I have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In addition, you must meet the following additional qualification requirement to qualify at the GS-14 level: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: planning, organizing and coordinating technical programs or projects involving social science research; analyzing research program policies and making recommendations to improve policies; preparing analytical reports on the implications of ethical, legal, and social issues surrounding research activities; providing technical and administrative leadership and direction to program staff and advising management on the ethical, legal and social issues associated with social science research.

You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
