The incumbent is responsible for using computer graphic software to create visual products and graphics for the squadron's activities, programs and events including, but not limited to, video segments, sound bites, posters, flyers, banners, brochures, newsletters, tickets, cards, illustrations, backdrops, calendars, maps, menus, digital signs, logos and branding.
This is a regular full time category position; guaranteed 40 hours per week.

Duties

Help

This position is located in the Marketing and Publicity Office of the 35th Force Support Squadron, Misawa AB, Japan. The incumbent is responsible for using computer graphic software to create visual products and graphics for the squadron's activities, programs and events including, but not limited to, video segments, sound bites, posters, flyers, banners, brochures, newsletters, tickets, cards, illustrations, backdrops, calendars, maps, menus, digital signs, logos and branding. Selects a variety of visual materials such as photographs, illustrations, video and prints to communicate information to the target audience. Designs and determines the placement, appearance, style, typographical elements and exercises an effective use of color schemes and shapes as it relates to graphic design. Works with Marketing Director and Graphic Design team to design the monthly Force Support Squadron magazine. Creates and develops original artwork and other visual graphics utilizing computer graphic software programs including but not limited to Adobe Suite programs such as InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Bridge and Typekit. Utilizes local and stock photography. Films, produces and edits video and audio for promotional purposes. Ensures all products are delivered in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner. Discusses creative concepts and collaborates with staff and FSS facilities to maximize advertising impact. Maintains files (electronic and hardcopy) and operational integrity of workstations and network. Maintains current knowledge of information applicable to core duties, graphic design issues and technical standards. Researches and recommends cost effective equipment materials, software and/or upgrades to meet future production needs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have knowledge of and ability to apply the principles of visual design, knowledge of the technical characteristics associated with various methods of visual display and the ability to present the subject matter in a visual form that will convey the intended message to the intended target audience or market. Must have specialized experience with graphic design software including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. Experience must demonstrate the ability to perform and conduct research and lay out materials and information. A working knowledge of InDesign is highly desirable. Working knowledge of commercial printers and printing techniques is desired. Related education may be substituted for experience. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background check.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

Additional information
