Duties

Help
  • You will provide engineering and technical support to Navy programs in order to determine manufacturing, facility and resource requirements.
  • You will perform engineering technical analytical functions such as Industrial Base Assessments, Quarterly Constructions History Reports, Shipyard Facility Surveys and Annual Shipbuilding Reports.
  • You will organize, coordinate, and communicate project activities across division, office, and organizational lines.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience developing Technical Work Documents (TWDs), Job Summaries, Task Group Instructions (TGIs), Deficiency Forms (DFs) and Material Requirements (MRQT) for production work/tests during installation, conversion, or repair of assigned systems.
  • Experience recommending engineering changes on all operational parameters such as load, speed, pressures, and all other associated parameters required to demonstrate proper performance and reliability.

  • Experience using knowledge and skill in in providing comprehensive management advisory/technical services on a full range of design, operation, and repair techniques for various types of mechanical, tow handling systems, and optical alignments associated with nuclear/non-nuclear surface ships, submarines, shore station systems.
  • Experience performing pre-arrival testing to identify required repairs.
  • Experience conducting post-availability operability tests of systems to determine state of readiness/reliability after installation, repair, and alteration by production shops.

Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 or equivalent and above):

Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.

Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:

  • Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.
  • Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.
