Duties

Help
  • Establishing Family Program objectives, goals and priorities
  • Initiating, developing and implementing policy and regulatory guidance regarding Family Programs
  • Interpreting and adapting guidance, regulations, policies and laws as they pertain to Family Programs
  • Determining social support needs for the Command
  • Volunteer recruitment, coordination and management
  • Providing information and advice on readiness program issues, benefits and entitlements
  • Oversees and administers family program budget and expenditures

In order to qualify, you must meet the educationn and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement: This position has a basic requirement that you must meet in addition to the experience required below. The basic requirement is as follows:
Degree: successful completion of a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

And

Specialized Experience required:
This position has a specialized experience requirement that does not allow education substitution. The specialized experience is as follows:
One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating a family support program (such as family readiness groups, family/volunteer recognition, participation, and community partnership); provide supervision, guidance, advice and technical assistance to employees, managers, organizations and/or families on programs to improve both duty and family life; arrange and/or provide briefings, orientations, or trainings; and track and report information using a variety of automated systems, oversees and administers family programs budget and expenditures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
