Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Archivist, you will:
-Assist the Director in formulating basic policies and procedures and establishing priorities for the administration and management of the Center for Legislative Archives in all archival programs and administrative areas.
-Direct, through lower-level staff, the planning and evaluation of programs for accessioning, , preservation, reference services, access issues, description, arrangement, and COOP responsibilities for textual and electronic records in the Center's holdings
-Supervise all archival reference and project work in the Center for Legislative Archives. Oversees the planning and implementation of project operations of the Center for Legislative Archives.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-14: You must have one year of experience at the GS-13 level, or equivalent in other public or private sector, that is directly related to the position as listed above and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
-Proposing solutions/strategies for program improvement to assure the continuing effectiveness of activities in support of the agency's mission; AND
- Leading archival programs in areas such as accessioning, preservation, reference services, access issues, description, arrangement, and COOP responsibilities for textual and electronic records; AND

-Directing archival project teams

Education

Basic requirements for all grades:

Applicants who meet the basic requirements described in the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) are fully qualified for the specified entry grade (generally grade GS-5). Applicants who wish to qualify for positions at higher grade levels (generally grade GS-7 and above) must also meet the requirements shown in the table on page IV-A-22, in addition to meeting the basic requirements.

A. Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
