  • Provide guidance and instruction in group activities, personal health and hygiene, courtesy, and etiquette to the adolescent patients.
  • Supervise and assist patients in getting ready for school, group, and other treatment activities; escorts patients to and from meals and on field trips; supervise daily tasks and assignments of patients.
  • Teach Native American adolescent patients daily living skills and assist in maintaining patients' welfare, clothing, etc.
  • Assist in basic chemical dependency instruction and education in accordance with patient treatment plans set up by the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Makes rounds in accordance with the Nevada Skies Youth Wellness Center policies and procedures.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Applicants must meet one of the following qualification requirements in order to be considered at the GS-05 level:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0102-5:
Possess at least (1) year of specialized experience to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Examples Include: providing physical and psychological care for clients in a residential treatment facility, or related setting, assist in prevention and treatment of social problems, like substance abuse, dysfunctional family, trauma-related emotional disturbances, etc; Knowledge of chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders; Prior experience in the following fields may be found qualifying: teacher's aide, paraprofessional, social work assistant, human services assistant, behavioral health technician, residential aide, substance abuse technician, nursing assistant or medical assistant. OR

4-year course of study above high school leading to a Bachelor's degree with courses related to the position. Examples of related courses include: psychology, social work, education, human service, counseling, rehabilitation, etc. OR

Possess a combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. (1 year of experience is equivalent to 12 months or 52 weeks of full-time work.Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to 1 year of specialized experience.)

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave is earned.

This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
